Joe + Lauren wedding sneak peek

May 17th, 2012

What an incredibly fun families and wedding!  We took a little walk through downtown from the church to Jack Quinn’s and stopped a couple of places along the way to take some images.  Here’s one of my faves.

Tina + Edgar are getting married!! | Colorado Springs engagement and wedding photography

May 15th, 2012

When I got the call from Tina that she wanted me to photograph her and Edgar’s engagement portraits, I was overjoyed!  It’s always a great pleasure to photograph friends and be part of their monuments in life.

I’d recently heard that Tina was dealing with some medical challenges and how Edgar was not only standing by her side but said that she would not face this or anything alone again.  How romantic!!  Spending even a little bit of time with them easily you can see how much they are in love.

Happy Birthday to me!

April 26th, 2012

So, Tuesday was my birthday.  I’m 39!  The real 39.

I am extremely blessed; my life is full of great friends!  I love how everyone comes out of the woodwork on Facebook to wish you a happy birthday.  Ya never know how many people are watching what you’re posting and keeping up with your day to day stuff.  This year, I really tried hard to keep up with all the well wishes, thanking them and creating an opportunity to catch up with dear friends, which is the whole point anyway, right?!

Anyway, here are some of the highlights of the day itself  :D

First off, I didn’t want to wear shoes.  So, I didn’t.  I don’t think you should have to wear shoes on your birthday if you don’t wanna.

Those of you who know me and my best friend, Tarah, know we are exact opposites.  My ever-loving, but not very card-giving friend gave me my first birthday card of the day.  :D  And yes, the nickname Chrisanthemum has a very fun story.  Ask me about it someday.  I’ll tell ya.

I had phone calls, texts and all sorts of messages wishing me lots of love and then I get my daily mail (yes, lovely old snail mail!) and find this little gem tucked in it.  My Taekwondo family had sent me a card too!   (big hugs for that!)

The award for the funniest card of the day goes to Cara!  Tarah, Cara and I have been listening to a series of Bloody Jack on audio book.   If you haven’t read it, I would highly recommend.  Pirate stories, mischievous young girl, true love, sword fighting, canons  blazing; even a great big teddy bear of an English butler.    Aaaaanyway, I loved this card!  Totally appropriate  :D

Spent the evening at home with yummy take-out and a good movie.  Tarah even went and got me my favorite;  carrot cake.  Can’t end the birthday evening without a little song and blowing out a candle!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and love lavishly flowing all day.  I felt it!!

Connor’s amazingly fun senior portraits | Colorado Springs Senior Portraits

April 19th, 2012

What really makes the difference between an ordinary portrait session and a spectacular, knock-your-socks-off portrait session are the personal touches.  It can be as simple as your wardrobe choice; untuck the shirt and wear your converse with your suit.  Absolutely!

Add a touch of quirky, fun photographer and you got yourself a recipe for grand fun and images that you’ll love!

Colorado Springs Senior Portraits

What guy loves to be in front of the camera?  (Seriously?!  Did ANYONE raise their hand?)  No worries.  I am pretty girlie girl, but I won’t make you do goofy things that you dread.  One of them is having to stare down the lens and smile.  Constantly.

Now, I don’t recommend you bring a whole wardrobe of clothes or a trunk full of accessories.  One or two will suffice; honest.  A good clean dressy outfit and then a comfy often suffices and meets all the needs without being overdone.

Have a little fun!  I have to say that the image above is most likely my absolutely favorite from the year.  It totally speaks to the half-deaf 80′s teen in me and I hear Van Halen’s “Jump” in my mind each time I see it.

So, have fun and enjoy your senior portraits!

Much photo love,

Chris

Lisa’s Senior Portraits | Colorado Springs Senior Portrait Photographer

April 19th, 2012

I seriously do have a ton of fun when I’m photographing others.  I often purposefully encourage a bit of horseplay and goofiness to help everyone relax and let your photography guard down.  The BEST smiles come right after laughing!

Tessah’s Senior Portraits | Colorado Springs Senior Portrait Photographer

April 19th, 2012

Oh, the natural beauty and spunk of this girl!  When I met Tessah in leopard print top and heels, I knew we were going to have some serious fun!  I so enjoy it when a woman is confident and it shines through in her images.

Again, we visited my very favorite and absolutely gorgeous Broadmoor Hotel for this session.  It’s beautiful architecture, gorgeous grounds and eclectic furniture deserves to be visited time and again.

Baptism | Colorado Springs Family Portrait Photographer

April 14th, 2012

One of the things I enjoy most about being a photographer is being able to capture beautiful images of the major events in people’s lives.  I know, I know that sounds cheesy and like a thousand others have said it before, but it’s true!  It gets the sappy girl in me all worked up.  :D

Today, I had the pleasure of photographing a baptism today in the ever so lovely Air Force Academy Chapel.  Here’s just a couple of the famed stained glass.

An Army Homecoming | Colorado Springs Portrait Photographer

April 7th, 2012

I had the distinct honor of attending and photographing my first army homecoming yesterday.  It was wonderful to see and hear the excitement of the crowd to welcome home their soldiers who have been gone for about a year.  The joy spilled out in home made signs, the patriotic balloons and happy kid faces.

As a photographer, I tended to take it all in through the lens, putting a bit of distance between me and my subjects.  It seemed perhaps too personal for an outsider like me.  As usual, I fully thanked the geniuses who created auto focus as my eyes misted up and I got all emotional.  Welcome home soldiers;  welcome home!
